In Jane’s textile and mosaic work a fragment of fabric or ceramic may inform the direction a piece of work will take. She usually works with ‘found ’materials, adjoining or layering the parts to make the whole. Imagery is pieced together from the things she notices every day in the Purbeck landscape: a drystone wall, the cliff and coastline, a buzzing summer meadow, from picturesque landmarks to quirky seaside motifs. Her palette may veer from the cool natural hues of the chalk coastline to the bright, busy intensity of seaside souvenirs, reflecting a love of pattern and colour.
